"The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: That a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists."

Mandrakes

We have a mess of Mandrakes in the house! These grumpy little plants are such fun to make - just be sure to wear you earmuffs if you plan on re-potting them! ;)

Dec 15, COLD!!!!

Well we had no winter and then we had serious winter along with serious cold (if you're from southern BC) -20C lows and -13C high. I went out to start the truck to go to the bread and butter job and found our inflated pengiun look like I felt on Monday morning. I thought it was very telling.

Had a great weekend though, puttering for the most part and doing a little miniature wood working Dovetails to be exact......turned out rather well considering this was the first time in this size. This 4 sided box is basically 2" lg x 1" w x 1" h. When finished it will be a miniature Bible box with lid and base.

I'm thinking I could get into wood working on this scale & as Harold said "if you really screw up; what's the worst you're going to do except lose a few dollars worth of material" Imagine what the cost would be if it was full scale OUCH!

I'll keep you posted

Not long ago we had the first snow fall of the year but it was short lived, melted the same day.

WELL SO MUCH FOR THAT! My hope that the snow would stay out of the valley bottom was punctured on the sharp, unique, individual points of each snow flake that is falling, yesterday it started and it has not really stopped. It has taken a break or two but it is still coming.

WINTER is here for sure we have sunk to a minus day time high and for Kelowna that signifies winter. I spent the day fiddling with our web site http://www.soletluna.com/ and making photo greeting cards to send for Christmas yes......yes........ it is a little late but as they say better late than never.

Hobbit

I've just listed this little Hobbit Character Doll on Etsy. This funny little fellow is standing approx. 8cm or 3 ¼” tall. I just love his little face and hairy feet!

Tree of Hope

Late in the week I was inspired to takes some night shots, I know it is obvious that with all the Christmas lights about one would be inspired......So obvious it is!

Last night we ventured out and weredrawn to the local "Tree of Hope". It really is quite impressive @ 120 feet tall. We relearned a few things such as; even though it is 4 or 5 degree C the wind can be very bitter without good wind breakers; which we didn't have. A monopod is good but a tripod is better, however a benefit to the monopod is, it helps you think outside the sharp and clear box; sometimes blur is amazing!

We also strolled around downtown and took pictures of the city's Christmas tree and nativity at the base of Bernard St by Kerry Park Even without snow (IMHO snow in the valley bottoms is over rated) it was magical.

Christmas is a beautiful time of year, for pretty much anyone that is able to read this it's a time to pause and look.

Look at all we have,

look at the comforts we can afford,

look at this great nation we live in,

look at our personal gifts and ask ourselves how we can share what we have with our community so that everyone might be able to live a little better. I know it is obvious we can share time, space, attention, affection, concern, talents and money.......So obvious it is!

As a very wise person said.....
"If we worry too much about ourselves we won't have time for others"
Blessed Mother Teresa.
